Hemodialysis

Laboratories

Magnus provides centralized pure water production and distribution systems that supply water to glassware washers, autoclaves, animal hydration, and point of use polishing systems. Our solutions incorporate technologies such as reverse osmosis (RO), deionization (DI), ultrafiltration (UF), ultraviolet sterilizers (UV) and absolute filtration cartridges.

Point-of-use applications include water for tissue culture, in vitro fertilization, HPLC, GC, MS, IC and TOC just to mention a few. Custom and bench units.

Quality pure water is critical for all laboratories. Without the proper conditions, tests can be contaminated by particulates in the source water. Magnus understand laboratories special needs and concerns regarding the high purity of their water source. We offer complete water systems for lab water applications to meet specific specifications up to 18 megohm and < 150ppb TOC quality water.

Domestic water

Domestic water is used everywhere in the commercial & Institutional marketplace. Hence, bacterial contamination of this water can lead to serious problems down the road.

For example, Legionella found in domestic water supplies is the cause of Legionnaire’s disease being an infection of the respiratory tract. A mandatory declaration disease, it is a serious form of pneumopathy which leads to death in approximately 15% of all cases. The disease is contracted when contaminated water in an aerosol form is inhaled thus transporting the bacteria to the lungs. Three conditions must be met for the infection to occur:

• Contaminated water containing Legionella

• Dispersion of contaminated water as an aerosol (fine mist)

• Inhalation or aspiration of the aerosol

Sources of contamination are

found in all domestic hot water distribution or use systems such as Showers, decorative Fountains, spas, Humidifiers, atomizers and medical equipment that generate aerosols.

This illness mostly affects predisposed individuals showing risk factors such as old age, chronic respiratory diseases, diabetes, immunodeficiency illness, participation in immunodepressant treatments, smoking or alcoholism.

Minimizing the risk implies a combination of different pro-active strategies such as:

• Preventing biofilm, corrosion and scale formation by implementing disinfection and water treatment best practices

• Performing regular validation of the performance of your water treatment program using physico-chemical and microbiological indicators

• Implementing and maintaining regular Legionella monitoring practices using a quick and reliable detection method

• Implement quick-response action plans in case of a Legionella outbreak
